What's in this Coloring Sheet?
This high-quality outline features the iconic elements of a Roman centurion or legionary. Young artists can focus on coloring the galea (helmet) with its distinct plume, the segmented armor plates (lorica segmentata), and the large rectangular shield known as the scutum. The soldier is depicted holding a spear, ready for duty.
Coloring Tips and Tools
- For the Armor: Use metallic silver or grey crayons to make the armor look like real steel, and add gold accents for the helmet details.
- For the Shield and Tunic: Roman soldiers often wore deep red tunics. Try using bright red markers or watercolors for the shield and clothing to make the image pop against the metallic armor.
- Paper Size: This free download is optimized for standard A4 paper, ensuring a crisp print via PDF format.
Whether you are using colored pencils for fine detail or markers for bold colors, this printable Roman soldier drawing offers a fun and educational way to explore history through art.
