License

Last updated: April 27, 2026

This page explains what you can do with coloring pages downloaded or generated on Coloro. The library is licensed under a permissive personal-and-educational licence; commercial use needs prior written permission. AI-generated images carry additional notes because authorship rules differ by jurisdiction.

1. Permitted Uses (Free)

You may, at no cost and without asking us:

  • print, photocopy and colour pages at home for yourself, your family, or your friends;
  • use pages in classrooms, kindergartens, libraries, summer camps, hospitals and other non-profit educational settings, including printing for your students and group activities;
  • use pages in non-commercial therapy and well-being settings (e.g. children's wards, senior-care activities);
  • share your colored result on personal social media, with or without crediting Coloro;
  • use the online editor and download your finished work as a PNG;
  • upload your colored result to our community gallery (see Section 4 of the Terms of Service).

2. Uses That Need Our Permission

The following uses require prior written permission. Email us via the Contact page describing your use case; we usually reply within five business days.

  • selling printed coloring books, posters, T-shirts or other merchandise that include our pages;
  • republishing our pages on a paid worksheet or printable site;
  • licensing our pages to a publisher, magazine, newspaper or broadcaster;
  • integrating our images or AI generations into another product or service that you sell;
  • using our pages or AI generations as training data for a machine-learning model;
  • any use that competes directly with Coloro.

3. Prohibited Uses

The following uses are not permitted under any licence we offer:

  • creating, sharing or selling content that depicts minors in a sexualised manner, that promotes violence, hate, or self-harm, or that is unlawful in your jurisdiction;
  • using our pages in a way that suggests Coloro endorses a product, service, opinion or person without our written consent;
  • removing or altering watermarks, attribution or metadata embedded in our images;
  • scraping or bulk-downloading the library to redistribute, even at no cost.

4. AI-Generated Images — Licence to You

For each AI-generated image we deliver to you, we grant you a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual licence to use the image for the purposes permitted in Section 1, on the same terms as the rest of the library. The licence is sub-licensable to your immediate family for personal use only. Commercial uses require permission as described in Section 2.

5. AI Authorship — Jurisdiction Notes

Whether an AI-generated image attracts copyright protection — and who is its "author" — varies between jurisdictions. We make no warranty as to copyright status; the notes below are for general information only and are not legal advice.

  • United States. The U.S. Copyright Office has stated (Compendium update, 2023; reaffirmed 2024–2025) that material generated entirely by AI from a text prompt is not eligible for copyright registration. Human-authored selection, arrangement and modifications can be protected.
  • United Kingdom. Under section 9(3) of the Copyright, Designs and Patents Act 1988, "computer-generated" works can be protected, with authorship attributed to the person who made the arrangements necessary for creation. The provision is currently under government review.
  • European Union (incl. Germany, Spain). Copyright requires a "personal intellectual creation" reflecting the author's free and creative choices (CJEU, Infopaq C-5/08; Painer C-145/10). Purely AI-generated images typically fail this test, although prompt design and post-editing may add protectable human contribution. Germany applies UrhG §2(II) on this basis; Spain applies TRLPI Art. 10.
  • Canada. Authorship requires "skill and judgment" exercised by a human (CCH Canadian, 2004 SCC 13). Output produced solely by AI is unlikely to qualify.
  • Brazil and most LATAM jurisdictions. National copyright laws (e.g. Brazilian Law 9.610/1998 Art. 11) require a natural-person author. Mexico's LFDA, Argentina's Ley 11.723 and Chile's Ley 17.336 take similar positions.

You should treat AI-generated images as not necessarily protected by exclusive copyright unless there is significant human authorship in the final output (e.g. you re-color, redraw or otherwise transform the result). Trademarks, rights of publicity and other rights still apply regardless of copyright status.

6. Attribution

Attribution is appreciated but not required for permitted uses. If you do attribute, please use: "Coloring page by Coloro – coloro.io". For AI generations, we ask you not to misrepresent purely AI output as your hand-drawn art when posting on art-focused platforms — most have policies on this.

7. No Warranty

The library and AI generations are provided "as is" with no warranty of title, non-infringement or fitness for any commercial purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability is limited as described in the Terms of Service.
